Coronavirus: A Message From Dr. Sedberry

We know you may be concerned about the current outbreak of the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. We understand and want to reassure you that Shoal Creek Foot & Ankle Center is taking all necessary precautions to keep you and our healthcare team safe. We are following best practices recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as local, state, and federal health officials.

Shoal Creek Foot & Ankle Center remains open and patients should feel confident visiting our clinic. We have implemented new protocols to reduce health risks for everyone. Patients should attend their scheduled appointments unless they have symptoms (fever, new cough, new shortness of breath). We may postpone or reschedule appointments/surgeries and will review schedules daily to identify the best approach for each patient.

Shoal Creek Foot & Ankle Center has infection-prevention protocols and systems in place to keep all patients, our healthcare team, and guests safe at all times. We have also taken the following steps to protect your safety:

  • Our healthcare team has completed additional training (refresher courses) to reinforce our safety and cleanliness procedures.
  • We have increased the frequency of cleaning public touchpoints including but not limited to furniture, door handles and knobs, countertops, clipboards, even pens.
  • Toys, reading materials, and other communal objects have been removed from the clinic.
  • Patients and guests are asked not to enter the office if they have symptoms (fever, new cough, new shortness of breath). They should return to their vehicle and call the clinic.
  • Upon arrival, patients are sent to an exam room where they remain for the duration of their visit. This new check-in/check-out procedure limits interaction with other people.
  • Patients and visitors are encouraged to take extra precautions to prevent the spread of any illness. Tissues, alcohol-based hand rub, soap at sinks, and trash cans are easily accessible.

The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to the virus. The steps to preventing Coronavirus transmission are similar to preventing other respiratory illnesses:

  • Wash your hands often especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, and then promptly throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Avoid contact with people who are sick
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
