A native of Oklahoma, Dr. Shelly D. Sedberry earned her Bachelor of Science in Professional Chemistry before obtaining a Master of Science in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Oklahoma. She went on to earn her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Des Moines University, where she was recognized with the prestigious Des Moines University Research Award and a University Merit Scholarship for academic excellence.
Dr. Sedberry completed her surgical residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital/VA Connecticut Healthcare System, one of the nation’s top podiatric surgery programs, where she served as chief resident. Her training included extensive experience in private practices, surgery centers, and hospitals, providing her with a well-rounded and comprehensive background. During her residency, she authored and co-authored multiple studies published in peer-reviewed medical journals.
Following her residency, Dr. Sedberry returned to the Midwest and established Shoal Creek Foot & Ankle Center in Joplin, Missouri. Her state-of-the-art practice provides advanced foot and ankle care to patients across the Four-State Area. Known for her compassionate approach and commitment to excellence, Dr. Sedberry specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide range of foot and ankle conditions.
Board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and credentialed in rearfoot and ankle reconstruction, Dr. Sedberry is also a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. She maintains hospital privileges at Mercy Hospital Joplin, Mercy Hospital Carthage, Freeman Hospital West, and Freeman Surgical Center.
Valarie L. Ikerd, DPM, FACFAS

A Texas native who spent most of her life in Kansas, Dr. Valarie L. Ikerd pursued her undergraduate studies at Baker University on an academic scholarship, earning degrees in both Biology and English. She then received her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Des Moines University, where she was honored with a prestigious research award.
Dr. Ikerd completed her surgical residency at Loma Linda University/VA in California, a renowned institution famous for its medical research. Her commitment to advancing foot and ankle medicine is evident in her published work in the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
Board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, Dr. Ikerd has been providing expert care to the Joplin community for nearly 25 years. She holds hospital privileges at Freeman Hospital, Mercy Hospital, and 32nd Street Surgery Center, offering comprehensive treatment for a wide range of foot and ankle conditions.
Known for her patient-centered care and surgical expertise, Dr. Ikerd continues to serve the Four-State Area with dedication and compassion.
Jeffrey L. Haste, DPM

Originally from Illinois, Dr. Jeffrey L. Haste earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology and History from East Tennessee State University. As a member of the United States Army Reserves, he was awarded the prestigious Green to Gold Scholarship, allowing him to further his education and leadership training. He went on to earn his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Des Moines University in Iowa, where he also completed his residency.
Since relocating to Missouri in 2000, Dr. Haste has been dedicated to providing exceptional foot and ankle care to the Joplin community and the surrounding Four-State Area. He is committed to a patient-centered approach, ensuring each individual receives compassionate, high-quality care tailored to their specific needs.
Dr. Haste holds hospital privileges at Mercy Hospital Joplin, Freeman Hospital West, Freeman Surgical Center, and 32nd Street Surgery Center, where he is also a part-owner. With over two decades of experience, he has built a reputation for excellence and dedication in the field of podiatric medicine.
Lucas S. Tebbe, DPM, AACFAS

A Missouri native, Dr. Lucas S. Tebbe graduated as valedictorian from Walnut Grove High School, where he also earned first-team all-state honors as a baseball player. He went on to attend Drury University, excelling academically and graduating summa cum laude with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Chemistry. During his time at Drury, he dedicated over 500 hours to research and co-authored several studies published in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Tebbe earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Des Moines University in Iowa before completing a rigorous three-year surgical residency at University Health Lakewood Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. His training provided extensive experience in podiatric medicine, rearfoot and ankle reconstruction surgery, and wound care, as well as additional exposure to vascular and general surgery, internal medicine, infectious diseases, and emergency medicine.
Following his residency, Dr. Tebbe returned to Missouri to join Shoal Creek Foot & Ankle Center. He is an associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and holds hospital privileges at Mercy Hospital Springfield, Mercy Surgery Center Springfield, and Cox Medical Center South.
